BioPhero

BioPhero produces insect pheromones from basic raw materials in fermentation using yeasts, in a process similar to beer brewing. Historically, the cost of pheromone production has been the biggest barrier to adoption for insect control. Pheromones are natural, ephemeral and largely species specific, and they work by preventing various insect species from finding each other to reproduce.  BioPhero is a spin-off from the lab of Dr Irina Borodina, who is based at the Technical University of Denmark.

Michael Lee serves as director on the Board of BioPhero.
